Big update

This guy is just doing everything he can to get back home to his owner family.

The first pic was taken when we first rescued him from outside his home the first week of April (8 weeks ago) .

Thanks once again to the eagle eye of Sven ( Aka Mange Tout not sure if that is a green pea variety??) Big was taken to the vet & scrape tested. Under the microscope he was proved to have dermodectic mange and with regular food & oral ingestion of a relatively cheap and readily accessible medicine "Ivomectin" he is now growing all his hair back and gone are those dry scales & callouses.

He will be returned to his home very soon.

Dermodectic mange is something passed to the pups by their mums. Its not contagious and can surface ( pun intended!) even in well cared & groomed dogs. When we take him back home, we will have to keep an eye on him in the future, just in case there is a remnant of the parasite in his system, but that's just dog watching !!! We do that every day.

Pui - Dog rescued from the streets in a local village

Another poor soul arrived this week at the shelter: Pui, dumped in a neighbouring village, found by Khun Sunisa, a kind dog lover who had informed us. (The coloured hair is not an over 60's blue rinse, its someones attempt to cleanse the abcess!)

Pui is quite old, has cataracts in both eyes, an abscess at the neck, and worse, a mammary gland tumour the size of a fist. We will try to strengthen her with good food, medication, and TLC for her operation next Saturday.

Fingers crossed for this friendly girl - she deserves a happy end.

Shelter visitors love dogs

Today we were visited by some young folks that were in the final stages of preparation for a Grand Bake & Buy sale on Saturday 2nd June at Prem Center School in Mae Rim, in order to raise funds on behalf of Care for Dogs.

Royanne & friends, came along to see the residents and ask them first hand what they needed from the girls. Armed with many doggy chews & big bags of food, the girls gave several of the puppies & older dogs a refreshing shower and some good old TLC & grooming.

I think everyone enjoyed it, the girls certainly went away with a determined attitude to bring these dog better fortune through their hard efforts.
Good luck girls !
